YOU SHOULD NOW …
we use wordpress almost from the very beginning, what was +/- 20 years ago, we had about years Yoomla as well, then we concentraded on wordpress, specially for its blog style capabilities and variety of plugins
WHAT HAPPENED?
wordpress became messy and greedy, block editor was a mess, plugin’s character changed, everybody wanted to get money out of it, the admin interface got spammed with stupid advices and commercial adds, giant paddings and absurd patterns, and eventually the devs got confused with their giant high resolution monitors and suffered at the same time severe myopia or something … the basic configuration in order to get a reasonable appearance took more time than the website design …
WE STARTED THINKING …
sounds funny, but what should we do? look for another CMS? making websites wasn’t our business, we made our sites and occasional one or another for close costumers, our job was networking, firewalls, NAS and ISP structures for small and midsize comapnies and access providers, so we did the minimal to have our sites up-to-date and went into standby
THEN IT WAS ENOUGH …
disabling wp-block-library was like telling WP, “no guys, we don’t need 17 layers of ‘just in case’ spacing.”, but that wasn’t all, we stopped maintaining our sites – we went into making a resilient sub-system, and required stepping deeper beyond the visible crap layers, we developed our own api libraries in order to substitute those unpredictable wp_functions, we cut out the shitty homemade plugins with their fake “fremium” upgrades which were still more bugged than their standard versions, last-but-not-least, we needed to kill this horrendous media library trash can to make our web servers breath again, it was not only 5000 jpegs, + 25000 crappy quality resized hidden thumbnails mixed with gifs, ico, fonts, pdfs and whatever plugin crappers left there …
THE PLAN …
wasn’t a plan, we just digged in, we declared war against bad plugins, shitty-block-editors, lazy devs and wp scams, only thinking about this “real folder plugins” and their makers selling upgrades to make tem real and you discover that dangy thing needs still another paid plugin to finally have real folders …. waaahhhhhhhh
THE UNDERGROUND GUERRILHA …
